Fire Hydrant Award
Jerome Wiesner, president of MIT (1971-1980), described the experience of studying at MIT as “drinking from a fire hydrant.” Living and learning at MIT requires endurance, consistency, and a great deal of determination.
Our professional programs reflect and instill these essential capabilities. The “Fire Hydrant Award” was born as a way to acknowledge those students who demonstrate a constant thirst for learning and the ability to put knowledge into practice. This award is also given to participants who embody MIT’s core values: excellence, meritocracy, courage, humility, curiosity, and a passion for problem-solving and improving society.
Professor John. R. Williams

He was named, alongside Bill Gates and Larry Ellison, as one of the 50 most powerful people in Computer Networks.
He is author or co-author of over 250 journal and conference papers. Professor Williams teaches courses on the fundamentals of programming, modern software development, web system architecting, Cloud, and blockchain. Professor Williams holds a BA in physics from Oxford University, an M.Sc. in physics from UCLA, and a Ph.D. from Swansea University.

He also has developed educational software for Microsoft, helped to establish the Accenture Technology Academy, produced over 150 educational videos, and worked for ten years with learning management systems, which he has helped deploy in America, Asia, and Europe.
The experience I acquired in the program was very enriching because it allowed us to understand from a human perspective the changes of the new revolution 4.0, where technologies are infinite, but it will be people who generate these changes, with a change first in how they work. I see digital transformation as a catalyst for profound changes in the way we interact with our main stakeholders.
I would recommend this course to more people!

I think it was like those booster shots of vaccines that we were given when we were little: Even if you have the knowledge, it helps to remind ourselves of the basics. We have to force ourselves to continue learning. It has helped me to remember that it is imperative to be constantly updated and with my eyes wide open so as not to miss any opportunity. And it has also reaffirmed my opinion that we should not always be satisfied with “standard” solutions, but that we must innovate.
Julio García Ramis de Ayreflor
– CEO y Asesor Consultor –
