Frequently Asked Questions

What is MIT Professional Education’s approach to online learning?

MIT Professional Education is revolutionizing the digital learning experience. In fact, we are no longer talking about online-only, but rather an interactive and collaborative learning experience that’s digitally powered: a Beyond Online experience.

That is because not only will you have access to one of the most innovative e-learning platforms that utilizes the latest technology, you’ll also have an opportunity to meet and work with some of the world’s leading subject matter experts in the fields of technology.

What are the benefits of the Beyond Online learning experience?

The concept of studying online with us goes beyond a strictly digital learning experience. With MIT Professional Education, you’ll have an opportunity to:

  • Attend international workshops and live webinars,
  • Collaborate and engage with world-renowned MIT faculty,
  • Learn from external facilitators, guest speakers, and subject matter experts from various industries, and
  • Meet and network with other program participants from all around the world.

Even though our online programs are open to hundreds of participants, each cohort is capped at 50 participants. By connecting digitally and working in much smaller groups with colleagues from around the globe, you’ll get the feeling of a personalized learning experience, as if you were in the same classroom.

How flexible is the Beyond Online methodology?

Our programs are designed in a way so that they can adapt to your personal schedule. However, it is important to note that our programs have a fixed end date, and that each module has assignments and forums that must be submitted within a specific timeframe. Assistance is available throughout the program in case you are unable to complete an assignment as a result of scheduling conflicts. In this case, your learning facilitator will be available to assist you. If you are unable to attend live sessions, recordings will be uploaded to the virtual campus 24 hours after the session. Participants will be able to access the platform and materials for 30 days after the program ends.

What is your learning methodology?

We believe in practical applications for implementing what participants learn. That’s why at MIT Professional Education, we give participants the tools to make their experience as fulfilling as possible:

  • Live online sessions
  • Case applications
  • Practical activities
  • Self-assessment test
  • Guided discussion forums
  • Review test
  • Additional resources (videos, readings, etc.)

Participants have the chance to participate in an engaging and collaborative classroom environment with discussion forums and group activities. The participants of our programs can interact directly with peers and learning facilitators.

Do you have live sessions?

Our live sessions are the perfect opportunity to connect with others, share knowledge, and participate in meaningful debates. During these sessions, you will be able to access additional content, learn from real-life case studies, and ask questions about projects and assignments.

A key part of online learning, live webinars, will be conducted by learning facilitators and/or instructors. While these sessions are not mandatory, they are highly recommended. Nevertheless, all webinars will be recorded and will be uploaded to the virtual campus 24 hours after the session.

What support will I receive while learning online?

For the full duration of the program, you will be assigned a learning facilitator who will guide you throughout your learning journey and who will be able to answer any questions you may have. You will be allowed to ask questions during live sessions with your learning facilitator and instructors, and you will be able to consult with your mentor and your peers during live forums. Furthermore, our academic support team will be available to respond to any inquiries and provide additional guidance and support.

What is the learning facilitator’s role?

Learning facilitators are experts in their fields. Your mentor will be there to help and guide you throughout the duration of the program. Furthermore, your mentor will grade your assignments, monitor your participation in forums and sessions, and provide you with feedback. If you have any questions or are unsure of anything, your mentor will be there to assist you and, if necessary, provide you with extra live sessions.

Can I interact with other participants in the program?

MIT Professional Education is focused on building a strong and diverse community, where professionals can learn from each other, expand their networks, and gain new perspectives. Each participant makes the program richer in terms of sharing knowledge and expertise.

We encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity by connecting and communicating with other participants through the learning platform. You will be able to form interest groups or location-specific groups and interact within those groups. You can also send direct messages to other participants and consult their profiles (LinkedIn or any other pages included) via the learning platform.

Will I receive a Certificate of Completion?

All the participants who successfully complete their program will receive an MIT Professional Education Certificate of Completion, as well as Continuing Education Units (CEUs)*.

To obtain CEUs it is required to complete the accreditation confirmation, which is available at the end of the course. CEUs are calculated for each course based on the number of learning hours.

*The Continuing Education Unit (CEU) is defined as 10 contact hours of ongoing learning to indicate the amount of time they have devoted to a non-credit/non-degree professional development program. To understand whether or not these CEUs may be applied toward professional certification, licensing requirements, or other required training or continuing education hours, please consult your training department or licensing authority directly.
