MIT Professional Education, established in 1949 under the Provost and moved to the MIT School of Engineering in 2002, offers a world-class educational offering. At MIT Professional Education, we provide continuing education courses and lifelong learning opportunities for science, engineering, and technology professionals at all levels, who are looking to advance their careers and creatively address complex problems, from around the world. Since 2018, MIT Professional Education has broken down language barriers, by offering programs in Spanish, with the launch of Portuguese programs to follow in due course.
Whether participants are interested in studying online, at a physical campus, or at their workplace or company site, MIT Professional Education offers several programs to suit participants’ career objectives and organizations’ needs. With over 50 courses across more than 12 topic categories, our programs are aimed at engineering and technology professionals across the globe.

MIT Professional Education is revolutionizing the digital learning experience. In fact, we’re no longer talking about online-only, but rather an interactive and collaborative learning experience, that’s digitally powered. That’s because not only will participants be exposed to one of the most innovative e-learning platforms that utilizes the latest technology, they’ll also have an opportunity to meet and work with some of the world’s leading subject matter experts in the fields of technology.
Blended programs – Beyond online
The concept of studying online with us goes beyond a strictly digital learning experience. With MIT Professional Education, participants will have an opportunity to:
- Attend international workshops and live webinars.
- Collaborate and engage with world-renowned MIT faculty.
- Learn from external facilitators, guest speakers and subject matter experts from various industries.
- Meet and network with other program participants from all around the world.
Even though our online programs are open to hundreds of participants, each cohort is capped at 50 participants. And, by connecting digitally and working in much smaller groups with their peers, participants will have the feeling of a personalized learning experience, as if they were in the same classroom.
Professional networking
Through an MIT Professional Education program, participants will not only learn to apply the latest technologies, they’ll also be exposed to MIT’s faculty of world-renowned professors and instructors. And, after completing the course, they’ll be invited to be part of the MIT Professional Education Learning Community affording them an opportunity to grow their professional network.

All participants who successfully complete one of our programs will receive an MIT Professional Education Certificate of Completion, as well as Continuing Education Units (CEU).
Professional Certificate in Digital Transformation
The Professional Certificate in Digital Transformation offered by MIT Professional Education in English, Spanish and Portuguese, formally recognizes a participant’s development and commitment to advancing their knowledge and skills in digital transformation. This certificate prepares participants to understand the new digital paradigm represented by the technological revolution, as well as the key technologies that are behind this revolution. Our practical approach aims to make participants an active part of the change. It has been designed with a holistic vision and considers possible applications in different industries, sectors and types of organizations.
The programs included in the Professional Certificate in Digital Transformation revolve around MIT Professional Education’s digital blended learning approach, a highly collaborative learning environment, that is digitally powered and promoted through discussion forums and group activities.
